What is a WDIR Inspection?
A wood destroying insect report, or a WDIR certificate is a report that’s required typically when selling or purchasing a home. A home inspection by an adjuster or estimator does not cover pests or damages potentially caused by a wood destroying insect. Get peace of mind by hiring one of our certified WDIR termite inspectors at Arrow Termite and Pest Control.
- Has the property been treated in the past for infestations?
- Does the structure/home have a current infestation?
- Has the house had an infestation in the past?
- Is there any structural damage due to current or past infestations?
- What type of wood destroying insect is causing the infestation?
What is a Wood Destroying Insect Report?
A licensed and certified pest control company/inspector conducts a wood-destroying insect inspection report (WDIR). This written report approved from the Lousiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is a reconized document typically required when purchasing or selling a home.
Who performs the termite inspection?
The WDIR examination is performed on all physical and assessable areas of the property. Arrow Termite and Pest Control will send a certified termite control inspector to the home to check every one of the areas effectively open to them visually and physically. Your homeowner’s insurance won’t pay for the removal of termites or the damage they caused since it’s preventable with a professional pest company and regular service and treatment.
What gets inspected on the WDIR?
Any permanently attached wood structures, such as patios, decks or porches, are included in the search, but detached structures such as storage sheds or pool decks are not. Areas that are readily avaialble both visually and physcially to the inspector will get reported on.
What gets reported on the WDIR?
The WDIR report will include information on either the presence or absence of wood destroying insects. Insects covered by this report include subterranean termites, drywood termites, powder post beetles, old house borers, carpenter ants, and carpenter bees.
This report/certificate will never act as a guarantee that the insects aren’t present. However, it is a good preventative measure and is typically required by the mortgage company or homeowner when purchasing a home.
