Rodents, like many other pests, carry with them the risk of contracting some pretty nasty diseases. They are known to carry many diseases, including dysentery, salmonella and gastroenteritis, all of which affect humans. These diseases can be spread through bacteria in contaminated food as a result of contact with rodents or their droppings. These illnesses can be serious and can cause issues like pain and dehydration.

We all know that rodents have unique and sneaky ways of getting into our homes, but what most people may not realize is that these same entry methods are still used once they get into our homes. Rodents not only chew threw walls and foundations, but are known to eat up ventilation systems and even electrical wiring. When these rodents chew up electrical wiring, they create a terrible fire hazard and can create potential health issues should those exposed wires overheat and catch on fire inside your walls.

Rodents chew through just about anything and are well known for entering ventilation systems to make their homes. Rodents have the ability to contaminate a lot, and even if you’ve taken steps to keep them away from your food, they could still be contaminating the air you breathe!
Air and dust can become contaminated with rodent droppings and urine and besides creating an overwhelming unpleasant odor (especially from dead rodents) can actually be hazardous to your health. Inhaling this contaminated dust and air can lead to illnesses such as hantavirus or hemorrhagic fever.
What Can You Do to Protect Your Health?
The best way to protect your health and home is simply to keep the rodents out of your home! While that might be much easier to say than do, it’s completely possible. With regular maintenance and preventative treatments, your home can stay rodent free year round, eliminating risks to your health!
